Birchwood-Manchester-Edinburgh

Birchwood station in the daylight

As I waited the predicted arrival time of the train got later and later. Would I make the connection in Manchester?

As I waited the sun set.

The train arrived. Traveling to Manchester Piccadilly the train got even later. On arrival it was a case of stepping across the platform straight onto the Edinburgh train.

Just before Lancaster the driver announced that the train had been slowed down by a series of red lights to allow another train to pass. The driver said that this made no sense. Arrived in Edinburgh over 30 mins late.

Didcot

The Oxford to Manchester train I was intending to catch was cancelled.. The latter train was getting in too late so took an earlier one. Due to connections not being so good and an additional change I was only 20 mins earlier than originally planned , despite leaving an hour early,

Porto

Hilly with beautiful buildings, cobbled streets and mad drivers. Mixed weather varying from very pleasant to hot. Shops open really late.

Coming off the underground tram.

The modern tram above ground .

A little wander on the bike.

There were loads of people sketching the buildings while sat on the steps.

Lots of the buildings are tiled on the outside.

Badajoz es muy bonito

Arrived at my hotel on the outskirts of Badajoz to find that there was not one but two wedding parties happening.

My view from my room of one of the parties.

Badajoz is a historic city with fortifications and beautiful architecture.
